Vanguard Semiconductor’s Family Day 2024 was nothing short of spectacular. Held at the stunning Sentosa Emerald Pavilion, this event brought together approximately 200 employees and their families for a day filled with excitement, bonding, and unforgettable memories. Designed and executed by Get Out! Events — one of Singapore’s leading corporate event organisers — this Family Fiesta was a perfect blend of fun activities, delicious food, and engaging entertainment, making it a truly special day for everyone involved.
Corporate family days are among the most rewarding events we produce at GO Events. Unlike conferences or gala dinners, a family day event needs to engage a remarkably diverse audience — from toddlers to teenagers, from new hires to senior management. The magic happens when every person, regardless of age or role, finds something that makes the day feel personally special. That was exactly our mission for Vanguard.
The Brief — What Vanguard Needed
Vanguard Semiconductor came to GO Events with a heartfelt objective: to create a day that would celebrate their team not just as professionals, but as people with families, hobbies, and lives beyond the workplace. The specific requirements included:
An inclusive, all-ages experience: With employees bringing partners, children, and even grandparents, every activity and entertainment element needed to be accessible and enjoyable for all age groups. The event could not skew too young or too corporate — it needed to find the sweet spot that brought everyone together.
A premium venue that felt like a getaway: Vanguard wanted their team to feel like they were on a mini-holiday, not at a company function. The choice of Sentosa Emerald Pavilion — surrounded by lush greenery and away from the city — was instrumental in achieving this. The venue needed to be transformed into a festive, welcoming space that felt distinctly different from the office.
Team bonding through shared experiences: Beyond entertainment, Vanguard wanted activities that would encourage colleagues to interact with each other’s families, breaking down workplace hierarchies and building deeper personal connections.
End-to-end management: From concept to cleanup, Vanguard wanted a single partner to handle everything — leaving their HR and admin team free to actually enjoy the day with their colleagues and families.
Our Approach — Creating a Family Fiesta at Sentosa
Our approach to the Vanguard Family Fiesta centred on creating distinct activity zones within the Sentosa Emerald Pavilion, ensuring there was always something happening for every age group. We designed the event flow to balance structured team activities with free-play elements — giving families the flexibility to engage at their own pace while still building shared experiences.
The programme was anchored by the Family Telematch — a series of team challenges designed for mixed-age participation — supplemented by roaming entertainment, food stations, and a central stage programme hosted by a professional emcee. The layout was planned to create natural circulation through the venue, with each zone offering a different energy and experience.
We also paid particular attention to the F&B experience, understanding that for a family day, food is not just sustenance — it is a central part of the event’s atmosphere and enjoyment. The inclusion of food trucks and live food stations was designed to create a festival-like feel that complemented the Fiesta theme.
Execution Highlights
Family Telematch — Team Challenges for All Ages
The centrepiece of the day’s activities was the Family Telematch, where families teamed up for a series of exciting challenges that tested teamwork, coordination, and a whole lot of fun. Games like Super Minefield, Floating Platform, and Quidditch had participants cheering, strategising, and bonding over friendly competition.
Each game was designed to be accessible for participants of different ages and fitness levels — children could contribute just as meaningfully as adults, which was key to keeping the family dynamic at the centre of the experience. The Telematch format also created natural moments of celebration as teams completed challenges, fostering a spirited but inclusive competitive energy throughout the day.
Our game masters facilitated each station, explaining rules clearly, managing timing, and keeping the energy high. The structured rotation system ensured every team experienced every challenge, and the scoring system built anticipation toward the final prize-giving at the end of the programme.
Silly Stations — Free-Play Fun for Everyone
Complementing the structured Telematch, the Silly Stations offered a variety of engaging, drop-in activities that families could enjoy at their own pace. These included inflatable soccer, gashapon machines, claw machines, and jumbo-sized classics like Jenga and Connect 4. These stations provided a great way for families to enjoy lighthearted moments together between Telematch rotations.
The Silly Stations were strategically positioned throughout the venue to create natural gathering points and ensure the space felt alive with activity at all times. Even during transition periods between Telematch rounds, there was always something engaging for families to do — eliminating the downtime that can drain energy at family day events.
The gashapon and claw machines were particularly popular with younger attendees, while the jumbo-sized games attracted groups of adults and children playing together — exactly the cross-generational interaction Vanguard had hoped for.
Live Entertainment That Delighted Every Age Group
The Vanguard Family Fiesta was not just about games — it was an immersive experience with live entertainment and arts. The event featured an energetic performance lineup, including a magic show, bubble act, face painting, and a balloon artist, adding a whimsical touch to the day that captivated children and adults alike.
The magic show was a standout moment, with the performer engaging volunteers from the audience and creating gasps of amazement across the pavilion. The bubble act — always a crowd favourite — transformed the outdoor space into a magical, shimmering wonderland that had children (and more than a few adults) chasing bubbles across the lawn.
To top it off, the event was hosted by the ever-charismatic Emcee Jason Tan, whose infectious energy kept the crowd engaged throughout the day. Jason’s ability to connect with both children and adults, switch seamlessly between Telematch commentary and stage entertainment, and keep the programme moving on time was a key factor in the day’s success.
A Food Festival Within the Fiesta
What is a family event without delicious food? The Old Chang Kee Food Truck was a major hit, serving up Singapore’s favourite curry puffs and crispy snacks to a constant queue of eager guests. The sight of the iconic food truck parked at Sentosa Emerald Pavilion added an authentic, festive dimension to the event that complemented the Fiesta theme perfectly.
Guests also enjoyed treats from live food stations offering popcorn, cotton candy, soft-serve ice cream, and refreshing beverages — ensuring that both kids and adults had plenty to indulge in throughout the day. The food stations were designed as self-service points, allowing guests to grab snacks and drinks freely as they moved between activities, maintaining the casual, festival-like atmosphere.
The F&B setup was more than just catering — it was an integral part of the event experience. The aroma of freshly made popcorn and cotton candy, the visual appeal of the ice cream station, and the familiar comfort of Old Chang Kee’s curry puffs all contributed to the sensory richness of the day.
Photo Booth — Capturing Memories
To capture the joy of the day, a photo booth with unlimited prints was available, allowing families to take home a physical keepsake from the event. The combination of themed backdrops, fun props, and professional DSLR-quality photos made for perfect mementos that families could cherish long after the event.
The photo booth saw consistent traffic throughout the day — families returned multiple times in different group configurations, creating a growing collection of memories. The unlimited print policy was intentional: it encouraged repeated visits and ensured every family went home with something tangible from the experience.
Challenges and How We Overcame Them
Managing an outdoor event at Sentosa with weather contingency: Sentosa Emerald Pavilion is a beautiful venue, but outdoor events in Singapore always carry weather risk. We developed a comprehensive contingency plan that included covered activity zones for key elements like the Telematch stations, rapid-deployment shelters for the food areas, and a modified programme flow that could shift activities under covered spaces if rain arrived. Our setup team arrived early on event day to assess conditions and position contingency equipment strategically.
Engaging a wide age range simultaneously: The guest list spanned from toddlers to seniors, which meant a one-size-fits-all programme would not work. We solved this by creating parallel activity streams — the Telematch for families who wanted structured competition, the Silly Stations for those who preferred casual play, and the entertainment programme for guests who wanted to sit back and enjoy. This layered approach meant every attendee could curate their own experience within the broader event framework.
Logistics at a Sentosa venue: Sentosa venues come with additional logistical considerations — vehicle access, load-in/load-out windows, and island entry coordination. Our operations team managed the full logistics chain, including vendor arrivals, equipment transport, and guest transport coordination, ensuring everything was in place well before the first families arrived.
The Outcome
The Vanguard Family Fiesta was a resounding success. Approximately 200 employees and their families experienced a day that delivered on every objective:
Strong attendance and participation: Turnout exceeded initial estimates, with families arriving early and staying well beyond the scheduled programme — a clear indicator that the event was hitting the right notes.
Cross-generational engagement: The combination of Telematch, Silly Stations, and entertainment ensured every age group found their own highlights. Children loved the inflatables and magic show, adults engaged competitively in the Telematch, and everyone converged at the food stations — creating the organic, inclusive atmosphere Vanguard had envisioned.
Strengthened team connections: The family format achieved what standard team-building events often cannot — it allowed colleagues to meet each other’s families, creating deeper personal connections that extend beyond the workplace. Multiple attendees commented that seeing their colleagues in a family context changed the way they related to each other at work.
From meticulous event planning to flawless execution, Get Out! Events ensured that every detail was taken care of. Vanguard’s employees and their families left with smiles, laughter, and cherished memories. This event was a true testament to the power of community, connection, and a well-executed Family Fiesta.
