DUBAI • UAE NATIONAL DAY CORPORATE CELEBRATIONS & STAFF EVENTS
UAE National Day, also known as Eid Al Etihad, is marked on 2 December and is one of the most widely celebrated occasions in the country's working year. For many companies in Dubai it is a chance to bring colleagues together, recognise the people who make up a diverse workforce and share in the spirit of the occasion in a way that feels respectful rather than decorative. Planning a corporate National Day celebration well means getting three things right: the tone, the timing around the official holiday, and a format that genuinely involves your team. Share your Dubai National Day brief with Get Out! to discuss a programme and proposal shaped around your group. Venues, entertainment, catering and availability must be confirmed for your specific event before booking.

What a corporate National Day celebration should achieve
Start with purpose before choosing activities. Some companies want an inclusive office celebration that lets every colleague take part, whatever their nationality. Others want to recognise Emirati colleagues and long-serving staff, connect the occasion to a year-end gathering, or host clients and partners at a reception. The purpose decides whether you need an office session of an hour or two, a half-day programme, or an evening event at an external venue.
Respectful and inclusive
The occasion celebrates the union of the emirates and the country's heritage. Content should be accurate and respectful, avoid caricature, and give colleagues of every background a way to take part without feeling like spectators.
Built around your team
The best celebrations involve people through shared activities, team challenges and moments of recognition rather than a stage show alone. Small groups, mixed departments and simple roles help colleagues who rarely work together to connect.
Practical for the working calendar
Official holiday dates are announced each year and many offices close around the occasion. Most companies hold their celebration on a working day before the holiday, so plan the date and lead time early.
If you are still comparing formats, see our team building in Dubai page or the wider Dubai team-building activity guide. This page focuses on the distinct brief of a company celebration for UAE National Day.
National Day celebration formats to consider
The formats below are options to discuss, not a fixed package or a list of past Get Out! projects in the UAE. Their suitability depends on your group size, venue, timing, the mix of colleagues and what your organisation wants the day to say.
- Office celebration with heritage stations. A contained session in your office or a function room with rotating stations, for example a traditional coffee and dates corner, calligraphy or henna by appropriate artists, and a photo moment in National Day colours. This suits most offices and keeps disruption to the working day low.
- Heritage and general-knowledge team quiz. Mixed teams compete in a facilitated quiz or challenge on UAE history, geography and culture. Questions must be accurate and respectful, and a good host keeps it lively for colleagues who are new to the country.
- Team challenge or heritage-themed hunt. Small teams complete puzzle and teamwork tasks inspired by the seven emirates, either indoors or, in cooler weather, as an outdoor route. Outdoor elements still need shade, water and a timing plan.
- Traditional performance or workshop segment. Some companies include a performance or a hands-on workshop led by suitable performers or artisans. Confirm the content, timing, space and any requirements with the performers before including it in the programme.
- Recognition lunch or evening gathering. A lunch, dinner or reception that combines a short recognition moment with time to socialise. Where it becomes a larger formal evening, our gala dinner in Dubai page covers planning considerations for that format.
Timing around the holiday and the season
UAE National Day is marked on 2 December, and Commemoration Day, honouring the country's martyrs, is observed shortly before it on 30 November. The official public-holiday dates and any long weekend are announced each year, so check the confirmed dates before fixing your plan. Many companies schedule their celebration in the last working days before the break, which also means venues, performers, caterers and decor suppliers are in high demand during that window.
Late November and early December are usually more comfortable for outdoor elements than the summer months, but daytime sun can still be strong. If your plan includes an outdoor segment, include shade, hydration and an indoor fallback. For celebrations that span the season, some companies combine National Day with a year-end gathering; if so, scope them clearly in one proposal so neither feels like an afterthought. Approach Commemoration Day with appropriate respect and avoid scheduling festive content in a way that conflicts with it.
Respect, accuracy and inclusion
A National Day celebration reflects on your organisation. Use the national colours and symbols respectfully and follow any official guidance on how the flag and national emblems may be displayed. Keep quiz content and historical references accurate, and avoid treating traditional dress, music or customs as costumes or props. Where Emirati colleagues are part of your team, involving them in shaping the programme often makes it more meaningful and avoids mistakes.
Plan for the whole workforce. Offer roles that do not depend on physical ability, provide non-alcoholic drinks and clearly labelled food options that respect dietary requirements, and share expected participant needs privately in the brief. If some colleagues work remotely or in another emirate, decide whether a hybrid element, a parallel session or a separate gathering, such as one supported by our team building in Abu Dhabi page, makes sense.
Venue, decor and practical arrangements
Most office celebrations run in a pantry, atrium, training room or hotel function room. Confirm building rules for decor, food and music, noise limits, set-up and clean-up windows, and whether external suppliers need access passes. If you need a contained alternative in a hot or busy period, our indoor team building in Dubai page covers formats that work well indoors.
Agree decor scope early: table styling, backdrops, giveaways and any dress-code guidance for colleagues who want to wear National Day colours. Make sure photography plans respect colleagues who prefer not to be photographed, and agree how images will be used internally or on social channels before the day.
What to confirm in a National Day celebration proposal
- The purpose of the celebration and who it is for: staff only, staff and families, or clients and partners.
- Your preferred date and time window, taking the announced holiday dates into account, and the expected group size.
- The venue or office space, building rules, set-up time and accessibility arrangements.
- The activities, quiz or challenge content, and who prepares and checks it for accuracy.
- Any performers, artisans or workshop leaders, their content and their technical and space requirements.
- Catering, dietary requirements and how refreshments fit the programme.
- Decor, giveaways and how national symbols will be used respectfully.
- Photography, recognition moments and any speeches from leadership.
- Your planning budget, approval owner and decision deadline, shared privately in the enquiry.
Ask for a proposal that separates the confirmed base scope, optional elements, exclusions, client responsibilities and outstanding availability checks. Cost is influenced by the date, group size, venue, activities and content, performers, decor, catering, staffing and set-up time. We do not publish a standard Dubai National Day event price because those inputs need to be assessed for the actual brief.
Get Out! has planned 10,000+ events since 2012; that is company-wide experience, not a UAE-specific record. Browse the UAE corporate events and team-building hub if your plans span more than one format, or see our corporate events in Dubai page for wider company occasions.
