Team Building in Abu Dhabi
Shape a programme around your people, purpose and venue. Compare formats and share your brief to discuss suitable options.
A practical brief for your people.
Start with the team, then choose the setting
An Abu Dhabi team-building brief should explain who is taking part, what the session is for and what the venue allows. The right starting point is not necessarily the most adventurous activity.
Get Out! Events welcomes enquiries for team building in Abu Dhabi. Share your objective, preferred date, headcount and location so suitable options can be assessed. Programmes mentioned here are possibilities for discussion, subject to scope, availability and a specific suitability review.
10,000+ events since 2012. This is company-wide experience, not a statement of previous UAE delivery. Hero imagery illustrates a possible activity setting and is not client or venue proof.
Choose a format with a clear purpose
Meeting new colleagues
A shared puzzle, build task or light team challenge can give colleagues a reason to talk. Make space for introductions and different roles, especially when people do not share the same first language.
Working together
Consider a task that needs planning, communication and coordination. If you want a facilitated discussion afterwards, specify that requirement and ask how the reflection connects to the activity.
A social team gathering
Creative activities or low-exertion stations may be suitable when connection and enjoyment are the objective. Offer ways to participate that do not depend on speed, strength or confidence performing in front of others.
An outdoor experience
A site-based challenge or outdoor activity needs its own feasibility assessment. Check access, permissions, travel, conditions, participant requirements and alternatives before treating the setting as confirmed.
Assess water-based ideas separately
If kayaking or another water activity is under consideration, ask the activity operator to confirm eligibility, swimming requirements, equipment, supervision, conditions and emergency arrangements. Do not assume that a life vest makes an activity suitable for a non-swimmer, or that every participant can join safely.
Identify meaningful alternatives for people who cannot or prefer not to take part. Check whether the alternative happens at the same location, needs separate staffing or changes the group's schedule. Water access, guides, equipment and any alternative programme must be explicitly confirmed in the proposed scope.
For a group with varied mobility, confidence or fitness levels, an indoor or lower-exertion format may be a more suitable starting point. Participant welfare and informed choice take priority over keeping a particular activity in the programme.
What to confirm before approving an Abu Dhabi programme
- People: expected attendance, language and accessibility needs, activity preferences and any requirements that affect participation.
- Purpose: whether the session is for introductions, social connection, collaboration or facilitated learning. Avoid assuming a single activity guarantees a workplace outcome.
- Place: the actual venue or site, usable space, access arrangements, permissions and who is responsible for confirming them.
- Time: the full schedule, including arrival, briefing, breaks, activity, reflection and departure. Add travel and setup separately.
- Scope: which facilitation, materials, venue arrangements, equipment and transport are included, optional or supplied by your team.
Plan around conditions and participation needs
Outdoor suitability depends on the conditions on the day, the activity and the participants, not just the season. Agree who assesses conditions and who can modify or stop the programme. Ask what a change would involve, including whether an indoor venue or alternative activity is actually available and included.
For indoor plans, confirm clear floor space, room layout, sound restrictions, setup access and available time. A room sized for seated presentations may need a different layout for a collaborative task. If food, furniture or equipment comes from another provider, record the dependency.
Where Ramadan or other observances affect the group, ask about preferred timings and individual participation needs. Do not assume all colleagues follow the same practices. Confirm the programme against the team's actual working arrangements and venue constraints.
When colleagues are travelling between cities
If participants are coming from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, start with their real departure points and arrival windows. Assess travel separately from activity duration. Do not assume transport, pickup coordination, parking or a particular journey time is included in an event proposal.
Ask who communicates pickup details, tracks arrivals and decides what to do if the schedule changes. For comparison, explore team building in Dubai; the city decision should reflect your participants and venue, not a generic promise about travel time.
Turn the Abu Dhabi shortlist into a decision-ready brief
A useful shortlist explains why a format fits your group and what would rule it out. Compare a room-based collaborative task with an outdoor option against the same objective, participant needs and total time away from work. Do not compare activity time on one proposal with a full arrival-to-departure schedule on another.
Example: colleagues arriving from different offices
Suppose the aim is to help colleagues from Abu Dhabi and Dubai meet beyond their usual teams. Start with a shared arrival window and a fixed departure requirement, then ask whether a low-exertion task at the meeting venue can meet that aim without another transfer. This is an illustrative planning brief, not a confirmed programme or transport offer.
- Team allocation: mix offices deliberately rather than letting arrival order decide the groups. Ask how late arrivals can join without restarting instructions or leaving a team short of information.
- Participation: request roles such as coordinator, recorder and presenter, with a way to contribute without public speaking. Confirm language support and access adjustments rather than assuming the format includes them.
- Useful finish: ask each group to share one observation about working with unfamiliar colleagues. If a facilitated discussion is wanted, specify its purpose, time and responsibility separately.
Decide what happens when arrivals or conditions change
Give the organiser the earliest realistic group start and the hard finish. Ask which part of the activity can be shortened if arrivals slip, while keeping essential instructions, agreed access arrangements and a safe departure. If the available window becomes too short, agree whether a simpler social introduction is preferable to rushing the original format.
For an outdoor shortlist, record the decision owner, decision time and the actual alternative that would need confirming. A move indoors changes room access, layout, materials and possibly the activity itself; it is not automatically available or included. Do not commit participants to travel until the relevant arrangements are confirmed.
Send one comparison brief to the decision-makers
Use the following fields to keep the internal approver, venue contact and organiser working from the same assumptions:
- Purpose and people: intended experience, expected attendance, office mix and relevant participation requirements, without unnecessary personal or medical details.
- Fixed commitments: date options, venue status, arrival window, hard finish and any onward travel that the programme must respect.
- Options to assess: preferred format, acceptable alternative and any activity or participation style the group wants to avoid.
- Responsibilities to confirm: room or site access, instructions, facilitation, materials, transport coordination and who authorises changes.
- Approval gaps: what is confirmed, what remains provisional, who can resolve each open point and when the decision is needed.
Ask each proposal to answer those same fields. A format that depends on an unresolved venue, operator or transport arrangement is not yet comparable with one whose dependencies have been confirmed. Resolve the gaps before approving the programme, rather than treating an appealing activity description as a complete plan.
Send a brief that allows useful options
Include your date and flexibility, expected headcount, venue status, session window and priorities. Say which arrangements are already fixed, which need assessment and who approves the programme. Request a proposal that separates included work, options, exclusions and dependencies before confirming any services.

Comparing formats before settling the brief? The team-building activity guide sets outdoor, indoor and purpose-led ideas side by side, CSR team-building activities covers community-focused formats, and corporate retreat planning covers multi-day programmes.
